“I first started working with languages in 1996, when I taught English to elementary school students. Years later I decided to work with languages in a different way – rather than teaching, I became an interpreter. Before I began working at conferences, I graduated from Associação Alumni’s Interpretation program and worked in the translation and localization department of a major international consulting company.
Conference interpreting is an enjoyable profession: it allows me to work in various industries and places. Once I translated Queen Silvia of Sweden in a huge, formal conference, and the next day, Cafu, former captain of the Brazilian soccer team, running in a soccer stadium. Every piece of information I study and learn is interesting and can be useful at some point in my life. It’s also very gratifying to see the expression of relief on someone’s face when they realize they have a professional to take them across the language barrier.”
